Accompanied by Juliette Petit, consultant at the
Centre National de l'Expertise Hospitalière, the delegation was able to measure the important role played by new technologies and the consideration of patient expectations in Korean health systems.
This study mission to Seoul was an opportunity to discover several emblematic medical institutions such as
Myongji Hospital, a major institution at the cutting edge of medicine for more than 35 years;
Severance Hospital, the first Western-style hospital in South Korea; and
Asan Medical Centre, which leads Korean medical development by focusing on customer satisfaction and cutting-edge technology.
The delegation also visited the
Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, one of the country's leading hospitals, which places patients' expectations at the heart of its concerns, and the
Pasteur Institute of Korea, a strong symbol of joint medical research between France and South Korea.
The discovery of the
HIRA, the South Korean health insurance evaluation and analysis service, and the
NHIS, the national health insurance service, enabled us to understand the mechanics of the Korean health system.
Finally, as South Korea is a pioneer in new medical technologies, several key executives from
Samsung Medical Center presented their development strategy, based on clinical research and artificial intelligence. The participants also met one of the major players in connected health in South Korea:
Kakao Healthcare.
This international fact-finding mission allowed participants to understand the Korean healthcare system, to measure the impact of the investment of local structures in connected health and medical data, and to discover innovative systems for improving the patient experience.
