Assisted technologies at home: community-based living labs in The Hague
iZi Experience Home is a unique living lab in the city of The Hague (the Netherlands) that aims to help the local population stay independently at home as long as possible with the help of technology.
The
city of The Hague has a mission to help people with long term care needs staying at home as long as they want. With
iZi experience home, the municipality created a participative living lab imbedded in the community. Its Ambassadors are elderly people who live in the neighborhood. These volunteers are in charge of public relationships with their peers, helping them understand and adopt assisted technology solutions that will help them staying at home safely and independently.
The living lab team supports the developpement of this unique technology-based community and works with companies to encourage the development of solutions that meet the needs of the older aduts and people with disabilities. A vital challenge to help the 600,000 people who use Dutch home care services every year.
