From October 12th through 17th, the managers and chief physicians of medical institutions in Russia attended the “The health care system in UK. Effective management of medical institutions on the example of London“ seminar held in London.
The prominence of this educational tour is validated by the fact that the organizers of the event secured the participation of representatives of Ministry of Health of Great Britain. The official part of the seminar began with a presentation at the training center for medical personnel “The UCH Education Centre”. It was conducted Mr. Gareth Arthur – a Deputy Director of the Department of Health and Mr. James Fowles – a Senior Policy Manager at the Department of Health. They informed the participants about the National Healthcare System in UK, the types of health facilities and the principles of their funding.

Of particular interest to the delegation was a visit to a public healthcare facility “Chelsea and Westminster Hospital”, which is one of the five best hospitals in England and boasts a very low mortality rate. During the presentation, heads of hospital’s clinics introduced the members of the delegation to specifics of structural organization and hospital funding, as well as the composition of staff and principals of hospital management.
